Fill Your Boots Hits 1000 Members of it’s Grassroots Rugby Community

Fill Your Boots (FYB) are delighted to announce that we now have 1000 members of the FYB community, a community dedicated to grassroots rugby.

FYB started in October 2015, Founder Sean Phelan’s club Racal Decca were struggling to field a XV each week. It was his idea to try and build a community of Rugby clubs & players who would be willing to share in order to keep rugby matches from being cancelled.

Since then, it has gone from strength to strength with over 20,000 social media followers and now 1000 members of it’s free social network purely for the grassroots rugby community all over the world.

Over 200 clubs from 12 different countries including England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, USA, New Zealand, and Denmark have signed up, completed their profile and been plotted on the “Find a Rugby Club” map. Through the platform’s ‘Find a Club map’, men and women interested in joining a club can view what’s available in their local area and check out clubs’ vital information. The platform also provides a space for volunteers and coaches to interact and share advice via dedicated forums, which has the capability to host Zoom meetings and catch-ups.

Each region within England, Wales and Scotland has been assigned a ‘Rugby Finder’ group, which allows both clubs and players to network in order to make more rugby matches happen, whether that be via searching for fixtures or connecting with local players looking for a game.

The Fill Your Boots platform also contains an archive of mental, physical and emotional health-related content from contributors who are passionate about growing the game, the platform’s programming features a plethora of resources for all aspects of running a rugby club, playing and growing the game.

Founder Sean Phelan says “After lots of discussions with clubs and people involved in our sport, the appetite for a platform like this, away from all the noise of others, is much needed and a real benefit when trying to grow our sport. I am so proud that we have reached the 1000 member mark and I am looking forward to interacting with everyone!”
