Macclesfield Rugby Union Football Club

Founded in 1874 Macclesfield RUFC has been through multiple changes throughout the years!  Finding ourselves one of the largest Rugby Union Clubs in Cheshire we now pride ourselves on a “One Club” philosophy.

In years past Macclesfield flew high in National 1 Rugby, even pushing for promotion to Championship.  Bouncing between National 1 and National 2 was unsustainable, and we now embrace a Community Rugby stance.  Whilst ambitions of promotion into the National League remain alive, the club’s ambition is to “play at the highest level of rugby that is sustainable”.

There are FOUR male senior teams, three of which play in the leagues;

1st XV – Regional 1 North West 
2nd XV – NOWIRUL Business Plumbing League
3rd XV – NOWIRUL Classic Engraving Division 3 South
4th XV – Social League Rugby – ALL welcome
Womens 1st XV – Inner Warrior Womens League
U17/U18 Combined Colts – HALBRO Colts League (Senior C Preliminary)

MINI AND YOUTH (U6 to U16) & Girls (U12 to U18)

Over 400 members of the Mini and Youth section enjoy their Rugby at Macclesfield RUFC.  The section is thriving with over 90 volunteers including fully trained coaches, first aiders and safeguarding officials.

WALKING RUGBY (Open to all)

We have a THRIVING Walking Rugby section, playing EVERY Thursday from 19:00 – 20:00.  Open to all (any age, male, female, experienced or not).  Just turn up, or for more information contact Mike Keeling 

TOUCH RUGBY (Open to all)

Also on Thursdays, and slightly more energetic than Walking Rugby, why not try Touch Rugby?  No experience is required.  Open to all (any age, male, female, experienced or not).  Thursdays 19:00 – 20:00, just turn up with boots.  For more info contact [email protected].
