About The Club

Founded in 1930 but with the demise of Bec Grammar School and following a merger with Hillcroft in 1971 to become Ernest Bevin College, Bec became an Old Boys club without a school. What survived and continues to flourish is a rugby club that has at its core, the style and essence of an Old Boys RFC. We strive to play “Champagne” rugby, running with ball in hand, a smile on our faces and with steel in the tackle.

The current crop of players is as fine a group that has ever represented Bec Old Boys. The growth of the club and its strength in depth is exemplified by the introduction of the Bec Belles and by our ability, pre-Covid, to regularly field 4 men’s sides and its successes on the field with both the 2nd & 3rd XVs winning their leagues. The 3rds also won the “double” with victory in their cup competition. Perhaps the most satisfying recognition of our success was when we were presented with the Surrey RFU Teamwork award and were featured in the February 2021 edition of Rugby World Magazine as ‘Team of the Month’, which took into account the club’s growth in playing numbers, the quality of the coaching and the improvement in our training facilities.

We are proud to provide an inclusive, friendly but competitive atmosphere at the club and welcome all to join us for the upcoming season. See you on the hill!
